why vegan
I battled allergies and skin sensitivity much of my life. Eventually, I chose a vegan dietary lifestyle it opened the door for me to look into other areas of my life that were affected by unhealthy fillers, chemicals, and animal byproducts that are placed into most products. There were numerous occasions where I would apply eyeshadow, but also carry makeup wipes with me so I could remove the make up as soon as my eyes became red, itchy, and sometimes swollen. As I began expanding my career as a make-up artist I began to ask myself, “what am I applying to my skin?”
After investigating and realizing that many other people have sensitive skin, I set a goal to develop a Vegan, Cruelty-free, fun, and creative product line that I could feel good about sharing with the world.

One of the struggles that I recall prior to creating Ruth Ruby Kay was the lack of diversity in the cosmetic industry (still an ongoing issue). I know how it feels to need a quick item but never being able to run into the nearest makeup counter to find a product that would show on my melanated skin - the disappointment that I would feel seeing so many options for lighter skin tones and none that would show up vibrantly on my skin.
Due to the market’s lack of diversity, I wanted to solve the issue by creating a product that would show up AMAZINGLY on all skin types regardless of the skin tone.
